Evening Primrose Oil contains a high concentration of the essential plant-based omega-6 fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is mostly found in nuts, seeds, and legumes, as well as unsaturated vegetable oils as borage oil, sesame oil, grape seed oil, and soybean oil.
Omega-6 are essential fatty acids (EFAs), which means they cannot be produced by the body and must be obtained from the diet. EFAs perform a variety of roles in the body, including inflammation and cholesterol regulation, hormone balance, and skin health.
GLA has been shown to help alleviate symptoms of atopic eczema and premenstrual syndrome by improving the immune system, cell membranes, and hormone balance.
